What I Read in November

I’m back with another monthly reading update, are you surprised? I’m so happy that I read TWO good BOTM books in November. They were ones that I’ve been wanting to get to for a few months now so I’m glad that I was able to read them before the end of the year! I started off 2019 really strong with reading, and I hope that 2020 is the same way. We will find out next month if I actually get to my 2019 reading goal… I’m staying hopeful even though I have to read 12 books over the next 4 weeks. Stay tuned!

If you want to catch up on what I’ve read so far this year, here are my reading update posts from January, February, MarchAprilMayJuneJulyAugust, September, and October. And if you like keeping up with what I read in real time, you can follow me on Instagram where I post pics of what I’m reading or add me on Goodreads!

39. Ask Again, Yes by Mary Beth Keane

This book was a bit unexpected for me. I knew it was going to be literary fiction but I actually had no clue what it was going to be about other than that. This book was a pleasant surprise because I love books about families and this one had an interesting dynamic. I ended up giving it 5 stars because it definitely pulled at my heart. An amazing book about love and loss with interesting characters. Some people have said it’s hard to get into and I don’t disagree. But if you push through it’s worth it!

40. Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams

I picked this one for BOTM because it was on a bunch of Goodreads Choice lists for 2019. I thought it looked interesting and I always love reading books that are told from a different point of view from my own. Queenie definitely aggravated me at times but I was captivated by her struggle and found myself really hoping for the best for her. I read a review of this book that basically said that Queenie was not supposed to be perfect, she was supposed to irritate you and sometimes do the wrong thing. And I thought that was honestly refreshing to have in a book. A solid 3 stars from me!

BOTM December Pick(s).

I always get a ton of questions about which book I picked for my BOTM box so I decided to add it into my monthly reading round-ups!. This month, I decided to go with Dear Edward and The Wives as an add-on! Both were new options this month.

I’ve been a BOTM member since May 2017 and I love it! It’s the best book subscription box I’ve found. Every month, Book of the Month chooses five books and I get to pick the one I want. (And if you sign up with my referral link, we’ll both get a free book!)

Books I Bought this Month.

In November, I bought Know My Name by Chanel Miller, Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes, The Overdue Life of Amy Byler by Kelly Harms, When All Is Said by Anne Griffin, and Twice in a Blue Moon by Christina Lauren. The other two books were from my November BOTM box! A lot of these books are part of the Goodreads Choice Awards so I wanted to get them so I could read and form my own opinion. Have you read any of these? What did you think?

Currently reading.

I am a little over a quarter of the way through Shrill by Lindy West. I am really liking it so far and I’m breezing through it. Hopefully I can finish it in the next few days and start something else! I am going to try as hard as I can to reach my reading goal… let’s see if I can do it! December is usually a good month for me reading wise because of the holiday break but Ryan and I are traveling a lot this month. We’ll see how it goes!
