Hello??? Is this thing on???
First of all, I have missed you all and I’ve missed writing! Every few years, I get into a funk with blogging. I step away for a little while (sometimes a long while — I can’t believe it has almost been 6 months since I wrote anything!) and then my joy and passion for this corner of the internet comes back in full force.
This past year of work was absolutely insane. I really didn’t know which way was up for most of the school year. And it was so hard to get into a groove when schedules kept changing every few weeks, I felt like I couldn’t catch my breath. January through April has been really rough for me the past two years. So even when I started to feel the itch to write again, I was too worn down at the end of the day to actually get anything done.
Summer, on the other hand, is always a super refreshing time. I made the decision not to work summer school this year so I’ve just been soaking up how it feels to have a summer off (for the first time in 12 years)! Ryan and I have been spending so much time at the beach (Ocean City, NJ) and I’ve enjoyed getting to workout in the mornings again. Plus, the sunshine is just so good for my soul. I hope one day we can live someplace that has endless sun!
Other than that, I’ve been so busy catching up with friends. It seems like everyone is ready to socialize again since mask mandates have been lifted and vaccinations have ramped up. Everyone wants to catch up on the past year of life! I kind of love it, but it can get slightly tiring for this mostly-introverted girl.
I’ve also been reading more! It sucks that when I get into a funk the last thing I want to do is read or write. Two things I love! I’m catching up on my reading goal, but right now I am still over 10 books behind schedule. We’ll see if I can hit my goal before the end of the year (I’m trying to do 52 books again). I will definitely be writing a blog post of everything I’ve read so far this year. I’ve missed doing those!
If you’ve been following me on social media, you probably saw that Ryan and I just got engaged (much more on that later!) We will obviously continue to soak that up and maybe (?) begin wedding planning. I have been fielding so many questions about our wedding plans already and we truly have no clue. It would happen next summer at the very earliest but we’re thinking probably 2023.
I am also working on my annual planner post (I have a bunch of planners in already which is so exciting!) and catching up on some blog post ideas I collected during my hiatus. If you have any content requests for me, definitely let me know! I am so ready to be creative again you have no idea.
