Surprise! This has been one of my hardest kept secrets. Ryan and I bought a house!
Here’s the story…
We had started casually looking back in December but nothing had really caught our eye until March of this year. We put in an offer, and it didn’t work out. Fast forward to May, and we saw another house up for sale in a community we had actually never heard of nearby. We took a walk over and really liked it! We decided to check it out and the rest is history.
It has been an absolutely crazy week. Lots and lots of cleaning. We’ve also been meeting with some contractors to do a little bit of work on the house before we buy furniture! We’ve been living in a 700 sqft loft for 3 years now, so it’s crazy to have so much more room that’s all OURS! We can’t thank our friend/realtor Kathleen enough!
Ryan has bought a home before (he bought his parents home back in 2015) but this was my first! We never thought we’d be doing this during a worldwide pandemic, but here we are! I’m so happy that we’re staying in town and we’ll still be able to walk to all of our favorite bars and restaurants.
I’ll be starting at square one with decorating, but I’m excited to be working with my old roommate Kelly’s cousin, Lauren (@modern.global.decor), on some design/decorating ideas! She is working on building her portfolio, so give her a follow! I’m so excited to be collaborating with her. She has already given me some really great ideas and inspiration.
Since this is our first home together, I wanted to have some pictures taken for the occasion. Ryan and I have been together for almost 9 years and we’ve never done professional photos! I thought this time in our lives would mark the beginning of something special, so I wanted to have someone come to the house and capture our excitement and love for each other in this moment.
Our photographer, Lisa, was recommended to us by a friend and she was perfect for the job! We were only together for ~30 minutes, but Ryan and I were so comfortable with her and I love how these photos came out. They are so incredibly special to me.
WE BOUGHT A HOUSE. Still doesn’t feel real. I can’t wait to show y’all the progress as we go!
