Chit Chat + Life Updates No. 19

It has been a few months since my last Chit Chat + Life Updates and starting right now I am promising myself that I will start making these posts more of a regular thing. Monthly? Bi-weekly? What do you think? They are really fun posts for me to write and look back on, but if they’re inconsistent I definitely lose out on letting y’all know what’s going on which is no bueno.

In case you’re new here, these posts contain life updates, books I’ve read recently, TV shows and movies Ryan and I have been watching, podcasts I’ve been listening to, and recent purchases! Let me know what you’ve been watching/reading/listening to in the comments. I love hearing what you’re up to!

Life updates.

speech therapy clinical fellowship

— Since the last Chit Chat post in March, things have been a bit crazy…

— I started going to Book Club with my friend Jess (@bibliophilly_ on Instagram!) and it has been so great! There are usually around 6 or 7 ladies each month and we bring food to share. It has been fun for me to try making new desserts to bring and I’ve been loving the books we read so far.

barre class barre studio

— I’ve been trying barre more at my studio. I still don’t love it, but I’m tolerating it a little more than I used to. I’ve been loving Fusion classes that are 30 minutes of spin and 30 minutes of barre. They’re killer classes but I leave feeling really good about myself!

blue bicycle books

— Ryan and I took trips to Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA! I wrote a blog post on the things we did and places we ate (per usual). We are starting to think about where we want to go during my Christmas and Spring breaks this year! Any ideas?

— Ryan and I went to see Bryce Vine in concert in Philly over the summer! He had just broken his ankle the night before in NYC but he still had an amazing show.

ou vs tx game 2019

— We traveled to LA and Dallas to see the Sooners play in two games! The game in LA was at the Rose Bowl which was cool to get there again (we went once before in 2018). We only got to spend weekends in LA and Dallas, which was a bummer, but we still made the most of our time there! When we were in Dallas we were SO lucky to have such great company in Thomas and Tiffani from Tastebud Travels! We hung out with them once before about 2 years ago, but since then we’ve kept up with them online and feel like we’ve become good friends! Always fun getting to hang with them around Dallas. I’d love to plan a trip with them soon, they definitely have the same priorities as we do when we travel — exploring and food!

Recent purchases.

American Eaglethese jeans are the BEST. So comfortable! I bought two pairs of them for Friday jeans day at school. I got this medium wash and the lighter wash!

Rozie June — I’ve become obsessed with this online accessory boutique! She has the BEST fun earrings that are perfect for anyone who loves earrings and/or works with kids. I love wearing fun earrings to school!

Andi — This boutique has awesome scrunchies! I am in love with their black and white leopard scrunchie. It’s super cute on my wrist or in my hair.

slp halloween skeleton shirt

Peachie Speechie — Since I’m now ~officially~ an SLP, I can buy SLP shirts! Peachie Speechie is a shop I’ve been following for years. I was obsessed with her new skeleton SLP shirt and got it just in time for Halloween. I also bought her Speech Anatomy shirt and the “Best Day Ever” shirt written in IPA. If you’re an SLP or just want a cute t-shirt here’s a link for 10% off your purchase!

SheIn — I’m always skeptical about SheIn but made my second order through there this month. The t-shirts and paperbag pants I bought were decent quality, but the pants were a little on the longer side. I’m returning a few of the things but keeping most, so I’d say that’s a win.

Old Navy — I’ve always been an ON girl, but I recently discovered just how GOOD their workout leggings are! They are honestly in competition with my Fabletics leggings which are tried-and-true for spin classes!

Target — Been wearing these sneakers on REPEAT lately. They’re so perfect for fall. I want another color! Also loving this camo sweatshirt and this animal print sweater. So soft!

Reading + Watching.

TV shows I’ve been watching: I finished watching Gilmore Girls and Gilmore Girls: Year in the Life. SO GOOD. I also finished watching FRIENDS all the way through for the second time. Ryan had never seen it all the way through so we watched it together! I also have watched the latest season of Queer Eye and Ryan and I love the show Instant Hotel. It’s great if you’re in need of some ~drama~ featuring Australian accents. We also just wrapped up watching the second season of Mindhunter and Paul Rudd’s new Netflix show Living With Yourself. I think that’s everything!

movie popcorn

Movies we’ve seen: Since my last update post we’ve seen: Isn’t It Romantic, The Upside, Captain Marvel, Dumbo, Avengers: End Game, Detective Pikachu, Longshot, Booksmart, Rocketman, Late Night, Toy Story 4, Spiderman: Far from Home, Yesterday, Lion King, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Good Boys, Where’d You Go, Bernadette, IT Chapter 2, Hustlers, Joker, and Zombieland 2! We just bought the Regal Unlimited pass so we pay $21 a month to see as many movies as we want. Ryan has always loved going to the movies so we’ve gone a lot together since we’ve been dating! It’s one of our Friday night traditions.

the whisper man

Books I’ve read: Check out all of my book update posts! So far this month I’ve read Three Women and The Whisper Man which was SUPER creepy and perfect for October, tbh. I’m also making my way through Jonathan Van Ness’ book, Over the Top.

What I’m loving.

EveryDollar app — Ryan and I have been budgeting since the beginning of the year! This app has been seriously amazing. At the beginning of each month we sit down and have a “budget meeting” and try to figure out our spending for the month. It has been perfect for us this year!

Loopy case — I absolutely LOVE my Loopy case. I think I’ve had it on my phone consistently for an entire year. Previously, I was one of those people who could switch my phone case out whenever. Not anymore. I can’t live without this case. It’s awesome.

halloween nail art inspiration

Getting my nails done — I’ve been dreaming of the day when I have a full time job and I can afford to get my nails done by a professional on a regular basis. I know it’s kind of boujee but it makes me feel so much more put together when my nails look nice and LAST longer than 3-4 days. Ugh. This month, I went for some nail art for Halloween and they are so awesome.
