Chit Chat + Life Updates | No. 18

It’s time for another chit chat + life updates post! In case you’re new here, these posts contain life updates, books I’ve read recently, TV shows and movies Ryan and I have been watching, podcasts I’ve been listening to, and recent purchases! Let me know what you’ve been watching/reading/listening to in the comments. I love hearing what you’re up to!

Life Updates.

  • Since the last Chit Chat post in January, I’ve officially began my spring semester placement in a Skilled Nursing Facility. It was a little rough to start, but things are better and I’m getting the hang of it!

spring placement

  • Along with starting my spring placement, I’ve also started my last semester of classes! I’m in four classes right now: Cochlear Implants, a research course on Child Language Interventions, Feeding Beyond Dysphagia, and a course on Medically Complex Cases. They don’t meet every week (I only have class on Fridays) but we have at least two of the four every Friday.
  • Ryan started a finance blog! He has been interested in FI/RE (financial independence/retire early) for the past few years. He started out reading threads on Reddit but has now began reading books and is blogging about what he knows and has experienced! If that’s something you’re interested in, I definitely recommend following him. He is really knowledgeable but also really great at explaining it in a way that is easy to understand. I knew absolutely nothing about it and now I know everything I need to without reading one Reddit thread or finance book. He has taught me so much! You can also read the post he wrote for me about the basics of financial planning!
  • I started working with my spin studio! Back in February, I emailed the owner of the studio and asked if she needed/wanted my help doing the newsletters, social media, and blogging on the website. She said yes and the rest is history. I have been doing the newsletters for almost a month now and I have really enjoyed designing them and making them more interesting to read! I’m also getting free classes now because of it which has really helped my depleting wallet. Once my grad school responsibilities have diminished, I really want to start tackling more!
  • I met a bookstagram friend IRL! Jess AKA @bibliophilly_ on IG lives really close to me and we went to dinner earlier this week! It was so fun to get to talk about life and books in person and we had a really yummy meal.

READING + WATCHING.

  • TV shows I’ve been watching: Queer Eye season 3! I’m also still working my way through Gilmore Girls (though I honestly haven’t watched it in a while). Ryan and I have been watching FRIENDS together for the first time (I finished it myself in college) and it has been fun to watch again. I honestly haven’t been watching much Netflix lately because I’ve been reading a lot!
  • Movies we’ve seen: Since my last update post we’ve seen: Isn’t It Romantic, The Upside, and Captain Marvel!
  • Books I’ve read: I’ve been writing book update posts in January and February! So far this month I’ve read The Giver and The Library Book.
  • Currently reading: I just finished reading The Library Book earlier this week and I started reading Beartown and Five Feet Apart! I was ambitious with the number of books I wanted to read in March and I’m trying my best to read as much as possible before April hits!

RECENT PURCHASES.

I honestly haven’t bought much of anything lately because Ryan and I are sticking to our budget! I bought a few books from Amazon at the end of last month (Five Feet Apart and Beartown). My BOTM books this month were: Daisy Jones & The Six, Before She Knew Him, and I also got The Great Alone to read very soon.

Target was having a sale on their activewear and I bought two fun bras! One is a mauve-y color and the other is navy with gold stars (in the picture above). I love them both!

WHAT I’M LOVING.

My planner — For the past few weeks I’ve been doing #SundayPlanning updates on IG stories and in my feed. It makes me so happy that you guys were loving it! I am obsessed with my Plum Paper Planner and I want to make a post on it soon. What sort of things would you be interested in seeing? Let me know!

One Second a Day — Ryan and I have still been using this app to document our year! It’s so much fun to find things to document throughout our day.

EveryDollar app — Like I mentioned above, Ryan and I are budgeting! We just started using this app this month to track our spending and it’s seriously amazing! I’d love to write a post on how we customized it to fit our needs so let me know if that’s something you want to read.

What have you guys been up to lately?
