It’s time to chat about what I read in November! So excited because I read some truly stellar books last month. Let me know what you’re currently reading in the comments!

2020 READING GOAL UPDATE.

At the beginning of October I officially hit my 52 book goal for 2020! I ~unofficially~ upped my goal to 75 books and right now I’m at 65. We’ll see if I can read 10 more by the end of the year… I think I might be able to do it with days off and such, but we’ll see!

Now let’s chat about what I read in November:

58. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

a court of mist and fury

5/5 stars.

THIS BOOK. I had no idea I could love a fantasy book so much. ACOMAF gave me everything I needed and more. Easily my favorite in the series (after reading book 3, I can confidently say that this one is my favorite). I don’t want to say too much because this series should remain spoiler-free to anyone who wants to read it. But just know that book 2 is steamy and amazing and introduces you to so many new and incredible places in Prythian.

59. Disability Visibility by Alice Wong

disability visibility

5/5 stars.

Incredibly eye-opening collection of essays. As someone who works with children with disabilities, I found so many chapters to be insightful and thought provoking. It also made me aware of how though I’ve been taught about disabilities and disorders, I have heard from few people who actually live with those disabilities and disorders. Highly recommend!

60. Miracle Creek by Angie Kim

3.5/5 stars.

Really liked this legal thriller. So many thoughts/feelings about Elizabeth and, really, all of the characters. They were so flawed and well written which I loved. So many intertwining elements in this — family values and parenthood most of all. Definitely a great book for discussion.

61. Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson

grown by tiffany jackson

5/5 stars.

I cannot believe how quickly I read this book. I blinked and I was 100 pages in. And I couldn’t stop.

This book was gripping, to say the least. We jump right into the story almost immediately and I couldn’t tear myself away from the story even for a moment. Pretty sure I didn’t move from my couch in the mere hours it took to read Grown. This was my first book by Tiffany D. Jackson but it won’t be my last! If you are in the mood for something thought provoking and fast-paced, look no further. However, there are some disturbing elements to be aware of so proceed with caution.

62. Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewell

lisa jewell invisible girl

3/5 stars.

A solid thriller, but not my favorite. I thought the inclusion of incels/incel culture was interesting. The ending was great and had me questioning everything. I just was not super into the other perspectives apart from Saffyre’s. I finished the book pretty quickly once I was about halfway through.

63. The Roommate by Rosie Danan

4/5 stars.

If you’re looking for something cute and steamy, you’ve come to the right place! The Roommate was slow to start, but boy DID IT PICK UP. By halfway through I was totally invested and feelin’ hot. and. bothered. Loved to see representation of the porn industry and sex-positive topics/characters. Wished there were more POC and the ending sort of felt unrealistic. Can’t wait for book two, will definitely be coming back for more!

BOTM PICK(S).

I always get a ton of questions about which book I picked for my BOTM box so I decided to add it into my monthly reading round-ups! I’ve been trying to choose books written by minorities, especially BIPOC authors. This month I picked This Close to Okay and White Ivy and The Girl with the Louding Voice as add-ons.

BOOKS I BOUGHT IN NOVEMBER.

Preordered: One Last Stop, Malibu Rising, People We Meet on Vacation, A Court of Silver Flames, The Four Winds, Layla, You Love Me, Survive the Night

Ninth House, 12 Dates of Christmas

CURRENTLY READING.

I’m currently reading ~whatever I want~ which feels good after months of trying to keep up with book club deadlines! I am focusing on Christmassy reads right now and just started The Afterlife of Holly Chase!
