Chit Chat + Life Updates | No. 17

I’m always afraid of doing too many life update posts so there ends up being SO much time in between each one. Would you believe the last one I wrote was all the way back in September?! Crazy. In case you’re new here, these posts contain life updates, books I’ve read recently, TV shows and movies Ryan and I have been watching, podcasts I’ve been listening to, and recent purchases! Let me know what you’ve been watching/reading/listening to in the comments. I love hearing what you’re up to!

  • Since we last chatted, I finished my first SLP placement in an elementary school! It was honestly such a great experience and I miss my students so much already. I’m working on a post all about my experience and some resources I used while I was there. If you have questions for me, I will gladly answer them in a post! Let me know in the comments.
  • Perhaps the biggest news since we last chatted is the different vacations I’ve taken! Ryan and I went on a trip to Punta Cana with my family at the end of December to celebrate my dad’s 50th birthday. It was so much fun and we had amazing weather.

  • After Christmas, we celebrated New Years Eve in downtown West Chester with some of my friends! We were in bed by 2am but it was honestly a lot of fun to be able to take my best friend Kelsey (pictured on the far left) out in town for the first time. The next day we both went to spin class so we tried not to go too crazy the night before 😉

  • As I’m writing this, I’m in a hotel room in Phoenix, AZ for the start of Ryan’s work conference. It’s currently Tuesday night and we are only here until Friday morning but I’m trying to soak up some time here in the desert!
  • I’m still going to spin all the time, but I’ve also been throwing in some barre classes! They’re a lot different (and super hard) but they’re growing on me! My studio also announced at the end of 2018 that they are moving to a brand new location! They’re going to be adding TRX classes and some HIIT classes as well. I’ve never done TRX but it looks interesting. Have you ever done a TRX class? Side note- I honestly feel like I’m going through withdrawal because I haven’t been to spin in 10 days. On Saturday morning I’m going back and Ryan is taking his first class with me!!! I couldn’t be more excited lol.
  • I’ve started getting paperwork together for my spring semester placement. This time, I’ll be working with adults in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). I start on February 11th. Until then, I’m working on my Capstone paper and studying for the Praxis! I haven’t decided when I’m taking it yet but (hopefully) it will be before graduation!

Reading + Watching.

  • TV shows I’ve been watching: I’m still working my way through Gilmore Girls (though I honestly haven’t watched it in a while!) and I’ve also been rewatching The Office (shocker). I need to get caught up on This Is Us and I really want to try watching YOU again. It’s my favorite book of all time so I need to give it another chance. I’m just so obsessed with the book I’m not super into watching the show. Let’s see if I can change that!
  • Movies we’ve seen: Ryan and I go to the movies together a LOT. Since my last update post we’ve seen: A Simple Favor; Venom; The Hate U Give; Bad Times at the El Royale; A Star is Born; Bohemian Rhapsody; Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald; Ralph Breaks the Internet; Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch; Instant Family; Green Book; Bumblebee; On the Basis of Sex.
  • Books I’ve read: The best way to get caught up on everything I’ve read since September is to check out my 2018 Year in Books post!
  • Currently reading: I finished reading China Rich Girlfriend while we were in LA and I am almost finished the last book in the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy: Rich People Problems.

Recent Purchases.

I honestly haven’t bought much of anything lately because I have veryyyy minimal funds at the moment. I bought my mom a book for Christmas (The Last Mrs. Parrish) and some spin classes but other than that, nothing. Ryan did buy me some books at The Last Bookstore but I think I’m going to make a whole post on the bookstore and what I got from there during this LA trip!

What I’m Loving.

My new suitcase — we got it at Target and it’s just so pretty to look at! This is the first time I have had a hard suitcase and I think it has done a great job of protecting my things. It just takes a little bit of getting used to since it lies almost flat open like a book.

Eyelash curler — ok this is weird, but hear me out. I have naturally long eyelashes but never used to use an eyelash curler. This thing is a game changer! I thought eyelash curlers were super extra but now that I have the hang of using mine, I can’t do without it. It just makes my lashes look even longer and fuller than before. Definitely recommend getting one and trying it if you haven’t already.

My new planner — we’ll talk about this together in a new post coming veryyy soon but I am really excited to show y’all my new planner for 2019. Stay tuned 😉

One Second a Day — if you haven’t watched my 2018 video, you should! I’m so pumped to use the app again in 2019 and I even have Ryan aboard this time!
