Most of you know I didn’t read a wide variety of books this summer (ahem… Harry Potter) but I am on track to meet my goal of 25 books this year! I’m so excited. I know a lot of you love my book posts so I figured even though I haven’t read much of a variety I still wanted to document it. I’m also going to share what books I’m looking forward to reading after finishing the HP series! First, I’m going to list the books I read this summer that I already talked about in a previous post. You can read that post and then come back and check out the rest!

Harry Potter Books 1-5
Technically I finished Book Five after my summer ended but I’m counting it because I was well over halfway! My favorite book so far has been Book Three. I love(d) Sirius Black as a character! Book Four was the one that got me in a rut when I first tried to read the series when I was a kid so I was really happy to finish it in a little over a week! Book Five, however, took me SO long to get through. I was so bored and I freakin’ HATED Umbridge. I was supposed to, of course, I get that but she just made me hate reading the book because I wanted to reach through the pages and punch her in the face so many times lol. A lot of people said Half Blood Prince was their favorite so I’m excited to read it! I’m only on chapter two right now.
Alright, that’s all I’ve read since the last time we talked books. I told ya I haven’t been very exciting lately! But I’ve felt so out of the loop with HP for so much of my life I’m really excited that I know what’s going on now.
Here’s what I’m hoping to read by the end of the year:
Without Merit by Colleen Hoover
My girl CoHo is coming out with a book in October! I’m already super pumped to read it. I know I probably won’t be done HP by then, but I’m still hoping to read it within a few months of its release!
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
I’m dyingggg to get back to reading thrillers! This one has been on my TBR for a while and I got it a few months ago for free through Book of the Month and I’m so eager to get to it!
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
This is another one I picked up at the beginning of summer that I haven’t gotten to yet. Really excited about this one too!
Goodbye, Vitamin by Rachel Khong
Got this one last month in my BOTM box and it’s a shorter read so I think it’ll be a fast read that I can see myself getting into!
In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware
By the author of The Woman in Cabin 10 which had one of my all-time favorite endings.
Here and Gone by Haylen Beck
This one I got through the website Blogging for Books. It looks like a fun, twisty thriller and I’m all about those!
As always, I usually pick my books based on how I’m feeling and what I’m in the mood to read. This list will probably (definitely) change, but I still love sharing the books I’m looking forward to reading, regardless of when I’ll actually read them. I love hearing what books you’ve finished and loved so leave me some comments and lets chat books together!
would love to see a short summary on these so I know what each book is about!

I agree!
Half-Blood Prince is my favorite HP book so I hope you’ll love it! The Hate U Give is on my TBR too, especially since it’s going to be turned into a movie! If you ever need any book recommendations, you know where to find me. 😉
Just added Here and Gone and The Hate U Give to my list!! I didn’t read at all this summer, these two look interesting enough to get me back into reading.
Those are great suggestions. I actually haven’t read any of those books. I need to check them out.
Dark Matter needs to be #1 on your to read list. Like it is honestly one of my favorite books. It is so amazing I can’t even describe it. Simultaneously a sci-fi mind bender AND a romantic heart wrencher.
I tell myself this every time I see a post like this- I need to start reading more!!
I love your book posts! I’m only taking 12 credits this semester instead of my usual 16, and I’m also taking way fewer English classes so I should have more time to read for fun than I usually do and I’m really excited!

The Magnolia Story is on my list!
I’ve had The Hate You Give on my TBR since summer and haven’t gotten around to it. I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of it!
So glad you’re finally reading the Harry Potter series, it’s one of my favorites! The 7th book is my favorite, so I’d love to know what you think of it when you get to it!

I LOVED Dark Matter! I hope you enjoy it too!
I have a hard copy of The Magnolia Story – dying to find time to read it!
My favorite Harry Potter book is by far the first book, although I love the third book as well. Some of my favorite books that I’ve been reading lately were the Selection series (by Kiera Cass), which I refused to put down. At times, I became so worried about the characters that I would actually stop reading and look up a synopsis to make sure that everything turned out all right. After reading those, I read The Siren (which is by the same author) and loved it even more than the Selection series, although they are quite different from each other.

I started Harry Potter summer of freshman year and I’m still stuck on book 4. Maybe I’ll be them back up in 2018. I am looking forward to reading The Hate U Give once I get off the waitlist at the library. I’ll definitely check out Goodbye Vitamin, it seems to be the short read I’ve been looking for.
