Chit Chat + Life Updates No. 15

Happy July!!! It has been 2 months since I wrote a chit chat post so I figured this was a good time to update y’all on what has been going on with me! These posts contain life updates, books I’ve read since the last chit chat post, TV shows and movies I’ve been watching, podcasts I’ve been listening to, and recent purchases! Let me know what you’ve been watching/reading/listening to in the comments! I love hearing what you’re up to.

Life Updates.

  • I finished spring semester at the end of May!! I completed 4 more classes: Cognition, School-Aged Language, Voice Disorders, and Dysphagia.
  • To close out the semester, a few people from my class and I raised money for the A.I. Dupont Hear We Go 5K which was really fun! It was a great way to spend some time outside of class and raise money for an awesome cause.

  • Right after my last paper was due, Ryan and I went to two concerts back-to-back in Philly: Post Malone and Maggie Rogers! Two very different artists, but they were both really awesome concerts.

  • This summer, I’m only taking two classes. The first one is AAC! The class teaches us about the different devices and modalities you can use for communication with both children and adults. It’s really interesting to learn about all of the different things you have to take into account when choosing a device for someone.
  • I also had a crazy week of Motor Speech class. We had class 6 hours a day for 4 days straight with a final exam on day 5! The professor was absolutely amazing though so it wasn’t too bad. I actually think I enjoyed it a little?
  • I’ve also started working on my Capstone project! I’m doing a survey to research burnout within speech-language pathology. I had to submit an IRB which was a crazy process but I ended up being exempt which was awesome! One step closer to graduation…
  • I now have unlimited spin classes which started June 1st! In that month, I went to 17 spin classes in 30 days which I was really impressed with. Finding something I love doing makes working out SO much better and more fun!
  • My mom and I took a trip to Ocean City, NJ for the day which was AMAZING. I loved having a girl’s day with my mom and walking the boards.

  • This weekend, Ryan and I are going to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. I can’t wait to hang at the beach and read!
  • TV shows I’ve been watching: Gilmore Girls and Queer Eye are the two shows I’ve been watching. Ryan and I have been watching movies on Netflix when we get a chance so we haven’t watched any new shows together lately!
  • Movies we saw: Ryan and I go to the movies every weekend usually. Since my last post we’ve seen Deadpool 2, Jurassic World, Tag, Solo, Oceans 8, Incredibles 2, and I went to see Life of the Party with my mom for Mother’s Day! We’ve been watching more movies at home too using HBO, Hulu, or Netflix. We watched: Brain on Fire, Chips, Coco, Moana, The Kissing Booth, and Set It Up. Lots of movies so far this summer!

Recent Purchases.

  • I’ve been trying not to buy many books this summer and most of these were purchased in May before I made this no-more-books pact with myself. Since the last chit chat posts I bought: Crazy Rich Asians, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, The Immortalists, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, A Man Called Ove, and Love and Other Words
  • June Book of the Month selections were: The Kiss Quotient, Little Fires Everywhere, and Still Me
  • July Book of the Month selections were: Ghosted and The Last Time I Lied
  • This is weird, but like 4-5 years ago I got one of those subscription boxes and it had these feet wipes inside. I forgot about them until a few weeks ago and found them on Amazon! They’re perfect for wiping your feet off easily after a day of wearing sandals and they’re peppermint scented which makes your feet feel fresh and clean!
  • I’ve also been loving using a microfiber cloth to take off my makeup at the end of the day! Definitely works better than using micellar water which is crazy! I’ve bought the “original Makeup Eraser” cloth and a 3-pack for like $3 on Amazon. I like both but the more expensive one is definitely higher quality and feels nicer on my skin.
  • I also got this washable self-tanner mitt because I was tired of buying the foam ones for $5 every few weeks. This one is SO soft and, though I haven’t used it yet, I can tell it’s going to work well and be easy to clean!

What I’m Loving.

  • Updating my workout playlist — if you didn’t know, I have a public workout playlist that I (try to) update every Sunday night! I put my favorite spin songs on it ranging from EDM and pop to hip-hop and rap. I love listening to it on the way to spin, it definitely pumps me up for a good class!
  • Getting ready for the planner post. Honestly, there’s nothing better than receiving planners and gearing up for the planner post! I can’t wait to show you the awesome brands that are in this year’s post.
