What I Packed for Spring Break

spring break

Last week (literally last week) Ryan surprised me and said he was taking me on a trip for spring break. At the time I’m writing this, I still have no idea where we’re going but I’m VERY excited to be leaving PA for a few days. I always love seeing what other people bring with them on trips so I figured I’d share my “must-haves” for trips to warmer weather!

Makeup, Sunscreen, and Toiletries

These things sort of go without saying, however, Ryan and I have forgotten to pack sunscreen on MANY occasions so it’s always good to remember to pack it! I usually go really simple with the makeup I bring on trips (especially when I know I’ll just be on the beach most of the day) but I do make sure to bring a good cleanser with me to get off all the sunscreen/sweat/sand that ends up on my face. Same with shampoo and conditioner. Sometimes the hotel’s stuff doesn’t cut it!

Bathing Suits & Cover Ups

Typically, I’ll buy myself a new bathing suit before a trip but this year I didn’t. I bought a bunch before our trip to Fort Myers last winter and I haven’t been able to wear them since so I’m still excited! I also will bring a coverup and/or a pair of shorts to throw on when we leave the beach.

Books & My Journal

If you know me, you know that bringing books is a MUST. I haven’t solidified my list yet but I’m definitely bringing some thrillers with me to the beach. I read SO much when I’m on the beach. I’ve finished books in a day before. I think that’s what I’m excited for the most! I’m probably going to end up bringing Gone Girl and The Kind Worth Killing. And I’ll bring my Kindle just in case!

I’ve also been going strong with writing in my journal. I’ve been writing every day since October and I’m not about to stop just because of vaca! It’s small and portable enough to bring with me everywhere I go which I love.

Versatile Clothing & Shoes

Since we’re only going to be there for a few days, I needed to be very selective with my shoes and clothing choices. Clothing-wise, I’m bringing jeans (white jeans too!), shorts, a dress just in case, and a few different tops. I’m also bringing a sweatshirt/sweater and a light jacket for when it’s chillier at night.

For shoes, I decided to bring two pairs of sandals (foam flip flops for the beach and brown sandals), sneakers, and these adorable hooded block heel booties from Payless ShoeSource.

These hooded block heel shoes are a low enough heel that I can easily walk in them and they could be dressed up or down by wearing them with a sundress or with cuffed jeans. They’re really comfy too which is a big plus! If you’re still looking for shoes for Easter or just in need of cute new footwear for spring definitely check out Payless ShoeSource. I was pleasantly surprised! You can find shoes for as low as $19.99 which is def a plus for me since I’m ballin’ on a grad student budget.

What do you normally bring with you on trips? Any must-have items I forgot? Let me know in the comments!
