Even though I don’t attend a crazy sports school, I still love going to games and cheering on my Temple Owls! My high school was small, but I still went to a lot of football games mostly to socialize and hang out with my friends. Whether you’re a huge sports fan or you’re looking to branch out, I have a few reasons why you should attend sporting events in college!
You’ll get the full college experience.
Even if you chose to attend a small school, going to games can be a ton of fun. While I don’t think it’s necessary for a school to have sports to be considered a “real” college, I think going to games can be a great way to expose yourself to the typical college experience. I looked forward to going to games during my freshman year and I made so many memories at the Temple tailgates!
It’s something fun to do.
Chances are you don’t have too much going on during a Saturday morning/afternoon or a Friday night. Sometimes going to games is just a great excuse to go out and do something fun!
You’ll meet new people.
Football games are a great way to meet new people and make new friends! It’s so easy to strike up a conversation with someone sitting next to you, especially if they’re sitting in the student section right next to you!
I freakin’ LOVE tailgating! It’s so much fun to be able to socialize with a big group, get ready for the game, and eat tons of yummy food. Temple’s football games are at The Linc which is the Eagle’s stadium, so there’s tons of room in the parking lot for tailgating!
Because dressing up is fun!
One of my favorite parts of going to games is getting ready with my roommates beforehand. Temple isn’t a school where we dress up much (usually a t-shirt and jeans or shorts will do), but I absolutely love these options from Flying Colors Apparel! They’re both versatile (I can actually wear these to class and look cute!) and they show off my school pride!
In addition to wearing a cute top, I’ll typically wear some subtle makeup and put a face tattoo of the Temple Owl on my cheek! I love going all out and sharing my Temple pride on game day!
What are your go-to outfits for game day? What makes game day fun at your school?
