So you all must know by now that I am addicted to planners. I can’t help myself. It just feels great to be organized, ya know? I have three planners I’m going to use this year. You’re probably wondering WHY in the world I have three planners. What could I possibly do with three planners?! Well, allow me to tell you a story. I promise I’m not that crazy!
Last summer I ordered a May Designs planner. After using it for the fall semester, I realized it was way too small for what I have going on during the year (hint: it’s a LOT). So after some searching, I came across Plum Paper planners. They’re amazing. My planner of choice! There are so many things you can to do customize them it’s insane. And there’s a lot of room for me to write and organize all of my ~activities~.
Once I ordered my Plum Paper planner this year, I realized I probably would be running out of room. There are 7 sections I can use to divide up my life but when I started counting all of the things I wanted to keep track of, well, let’s just say it was more than 7 things. So I started brainstorming. My Plum Paper planner was on its way and I wasn’t going to give it up (I probably won’t even after this year) so I started to think about what I could do to split up all of those things I wanted to keep track of in separate planners.
When May Designs had a sale in July, I thought that their agendas would be perfect for blog planning because they are so small and portable. So I bought one.
Then the Day Designer Blue Sky came out and I had to try it.
Aaaand this is how I ended up with 3 planners. I promise I’m not crazy! And although I haven’t started using all three together (yet), I wanted to share with you all how I plan (haha) to use them in conjunction with each other. I also wanted to give you sneak peeks at how the layouts differ and how they work. Let’s get started, shall we?
#1 – Plum Paper Planner
Like I said above, my Plum Paper Planner is going to be my main planner. Here is what she looks like.
In the inside, there are notes pages, monthly view pages and weekly view pages. Here’s the monthly view:
And here’s the weekly view:
My sections will be: Biology, Medical Terminology, Voice/Education for Liberation (since they’re on opposite days), Basic Speech Science, Psycholinguistics, Phi Sigma Pi, and NSSLHA. These are the classes and clubs I’m in so this will primarily be my school planner.
#2- Day Designer Blue Sky
You all have to know how in love I am with my Day Designer. I wrote a whole post about it! I’m going to use this planner as my “reflection” planner. I won’t write in it until the day before and I’ll sit down and figure out everything I need to do the next day as well as write out to do lists and study schedules so I stay on track.
The Day Designers also have a space for a daily “gratitude” which I’ll write in at night on the same day before planning for the next day. I’m hoping this layout will hold me accountable because there is so much space for to do’s and there’s even a top three box!
The monthly layout is your typical calendar layout. I haven’t really decided what I’m going to do with this so, stay tuned!
#3 – May Designs Agenda
May Designs agendas are small but mighty. Although it didn’t work out as my sole planner, I really enjoyed the portability that May Books + May Designs planners have. I decided to get one when May Designs was having their huge Christmas in July sale. Everything was discounted so I bought a ton of notebooks and this gorgeous agenda!
Right now, I’ve been using the monthly view to schedule blog posts. I think I’m going to continue using the monthly view for that. I still haven’t decided what I’m going to use the weekly view for, but I think I’ll just use it as a portable planner to jot things down in. I don’t know. We’ll see how that plays out.
Here’s a pic of the weekly view! It has some space, but definitely not enough for me!
Now that you’ve met all three of my planners, feel free to leave a comment below and tell me if you think I’m crazy or not!
Do you use a planner? Do you use more than one planner? Let me know how you keep yourself organized!
I think this is actually a great idea if it works for you! I personally like the idea of having a separate planner for a blog. I might actually have to get a smaller calendar for that. I don’t know if I could do three though, that’s what my google calendar is for! haha
Also, my plum paper planner should be coming in this week. I’m so stoked!

My Pop of Color
Yay! I want to see a picture of it!
This sounds like an awesome idea if it works for you! I use two planners — one the size of a notebook for my blogging life. The second is a Lilly agenda that I will be using once school starts! I use a notebook for a reason that is similar to your “reflection” agenda — I use that notebook to write down to-do lists and my schedule for each day!
Using a notebook is a great idea as well! Maybe I’ll try that method next year!
I thought I was a sucker for day planners, but you’ve got me beat gf! I love the insight of each one – helps make things easier when I’m trying to organize. Sometimes, I just hit a dead end & can’t figure out how I should be managing things. So in love with the Day Designer Blue Sky planner! x Nicole | http://www.changeanddress.com
The Target Day Designer has been a life saver! I love being able to see just one day at a time.
You are so super organized!! I have been loyal to Lilly agendas for school for the past few years, but I’m planning to buy another agenda this year for my blog as well. 🙂

You’ll have to let me know which planner you decide to get for your blog!
I love your use of planners! I use 2 calendars currently- my wall calendar for personal trips and my planner for work events. I really should get one for my blog- even just to use the monthly view! I’ve also struggled with what to use for the weekly view, which is why I’ve never bought one. Great post, I love how organized you are!
xo.

Thanks, girl! I have wall calendars and stuff in addition to my 3 planners… lol… I’m just obsessed with keeping track of things. It’s a real problem!
I am such a planner too and have 3 as well. sorry not sorry.
People hate on it, but it helps me so.

Hahah yes! I’m glad I’m not the only crazy one!
You could use the weekly part of your May Designs planner for social media!!

That’s so true, great idea Leah! Thanks!
I think it’s great that you found a system that works for you. I am going to attempt to try keeping my blogging & everyday life things in one planner and see how it goes. If it fails. I might do what you’re doing. Love your planners. 🙂
Thank you Jazmine! I hope your system works for you!
Wow- 3! I like to keep both a virtual and my Erin Condren but can be anal about making sure I look in the right one so I don’t miss something. You seem to have a great system down!
Thanks Shane!
I bought the Target version of the Day Designer planner and I am obsessed with it!!
It’s so great and so cheap! A life saver!
Love this! I have three also… good to know I’m not the only one here!

The Fashionista’s Diary
Hahaha omg I’m so glad I’m not alone!
I have two planners – one has half hour slots and the other is just daily. I actually like it!
It’s nice to have different types of planners for different things!
I LOVE LOVE May Designs!! 3 planners is quite the feat! You go girl!!!
Nicole // Chronicles of Home
May Books are gorgeous! I bought way too many when they had their Christmas in July sale!
I only use one planner but after reading your post I can totally understand why you use 3. Sometimes my planner gets so crowded and it is stressful!
I hate when everything gets smooshed and I can’t read it! I’m excited to have it all spread out so I can focus
I am in need of a new planner! Definitely going to check these out!
xo Ashley
Yes! Let me know if you have any questions, Ashley!
You are so organized and I have learnt a lot through this post!! Such great post!!
Thanks Jasmine!
You are so incredibly organized girl! Right now I’m just using my Day Designer and my digital Google Calendar, which is synced to my phone as well. I’m not in school but I found that The Day Designer really kept my blog/personal life/work life in balance very well!
xo, Alicia | Alicia Tenise
Yes! I guess I forgot to mention that I use Google calendar as well! It’s nice for having to check my schedule on the go. I would hate to have to pull out my planners when I’m in a hurry or trying to figure out where I have to be next!
I’m excited to start using my Day Designer! I’m glad it’s been working well for you!
At first, I was like THREE PLANNERS??!! But now, I’m kinda thinking I need three haha
Hahahah, right?! It seems ridiculous but then I’m like, let me explain….
I need to follow suit! I use two – one for work & personal and then one for my blog. Always interesting to see how everyone organizes their life 🙂

Definitely! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I wish I was better at planning out my days. The Day Designer has to be one of my favorites. i love that each day includes the time. I currently use the Erin Condren just for my nanny job and my payment schedule and when I have to pay a bill. I don’t think I could use multiple planners.
This will be the first year that I’ll be using more than one… I hope it works out for me!
Your planners are all so cute!
God bless,

Thank you so much Claire!
I’m addicted to planners too! I’ve really been wanting to buy a Day Designer. One day, I’m definitely going to make the plunge!
I love mine and it was only $20 at Target! You should definitely look into it!
I use a planner too but this post was really helpful! Definitely useful for being more organized
Thanks Macarena!
love this!! I’m definitely getting new planners when I start school in the fall! Xo

You’ll have to let me know what planner you end up getting!
I’m a planner addict as well. I feel there should be support group for people like us. I am a HUGE fan of Plum Paper Designs. I just ordered my planner for 2016. Once i tried that nothing else compared. I love that I can keep everything blog-related organized in one location. I’ll be doing a post about it within the next month or two (I’ll even have a discount code!). Can’t wait…..so excited!
That’s so awesome, Anne! I love Plum Paper! I’ll be sure to look out for your post, I’m excited to see how you use yours!
GREAT post. I had a total light bulb moment – as in “ooohhhhhhhh….you mean…..I can have more than one….” I am so excited (and my bank balance is so afraid)
Hahaha I’m so sorry (but not sorry) for introducing you to a whole new world of planners! Let me know if you decide to purchase another one! 🙂
I have been using 2 for a few years now. I use an 8.5 x 11 monthly and weekly and a faux filofax for daily pages.I also use a notebook for my master to-do list. It makes it easy to focus on what I need to do today. Good luck with your planners!!!!
Great ideas! I’m an organization buff and back in the day (I’m 56 yo), I used paper planners extensively. As my world became digital, I discovered that I preferred doing away with the paper and have used digital planners and task lists for well over a decade. Bottom line — my love for planners eventually converted to being a digital app addict. My calendar of choice is Google. I used Google Tasks for several years, but recently have switched to Google Keep which is allows for more visual flexibility and is waaaay more than a task list app. http://www.google.com/keep/ I use the “Our Groceries” app for shopping since it is easily accessible from any internet device and all members of the family can have access to it. https://www.ourgroceries.com/overview This becomes quite efficient when the husband drops by the grocery store for one item, he can pick up other things on the family list as well. In the “Our Grocery” app, I’ve also created lists for every member of the family to share gift ideas. An organized life — be it paper or digital — sure makes life easier!
Fab ideas, thanks for sharing. I have a slimline diary for my blog posts, but am just getting into planners now, so thinking I’ll use one for household things and then another for my uni studies. All good excuses to buy more!
I have two planners as well! I have the same day designer planner that I use for college and then I have an Erin Condren that I use for reflection and documentation. 🙂
