My Summer Reading List & Recommendations

Hope you all had a great Memorial Day! I decided to commemorate the official start-of-the-season with a summer reading list of books I’m planning to devour during the summer months. I’m lucky that my school year ends next Friday, so I am really starting to get in the summer reading mood.

As I mentioned before, I’ve been participating in the Bad Bitch Book Club since the start of 2020. This book club has honestly been my saving grace in this quarantine. They tell me what books to read and when to read them by which gives me some much-needed structure! They have exposed me to tons of books I wouldn’t have read otherwise which I’m super appreciative of.

Next week is the last week of the Romance Challenge, but this summer they’ve cooked up a bunch of other reading challenges in addition to the monthly BBBC selections. Most of the books on my list are for those challenges, but I also have a few on my list that I’m hoping to read this summer!

Elin Hilderbrand Nantucket Nights Challenge.

I’ve never read a single Elin Hilderbrand book but I’m excited to participate in BBBC’s Nantucket Nights challenge! I’m super pumped to read some of these books as well as The Perfect Couple which has been sitting on my shelf for a few weeks. Here are the rest of the books I’m hoping to read by Elin Hilderbrand:

Summerland
The Matchmaker
Blue Bistro
Silver Girl
Beautiful Day
28 Summers

I was able to find most of these in e-book form at the library or super cheap on eBay so I’m really excited about that!

CelebriTEA Tuesdays.

Another BBBC challenge! I’m not sure I will participate with all of these memoirs, but I’m hoping to read a few! A lot were at my library to borrow which is what I’m planning to do so I’m not buying a ton of books this summer! Here are the books I’m most interested in (there are a few more in the challenge but I’m debating if I want to do all of them.. still want to give myself time to read my own books this summer!):

Inside Out by Demi Moore
We’re Going to Need More Wine by Gabrielle Union
All You Can Ever Know by Nicole Chung
Shockaholic by Carrie Fisher

I’ve gotten a few of these from eBay and some others I’ll be checking out as e-books through the library as well.

Other books I’m hoping to read.

You guys probably know by now that I’m the queen of hoarding books so I have a ton of good reads on my shelves that I just haven’t gotten to yet! Here are some that are at the top of my list to read this summer:

Call Me By Your Name — someone mentioned this was a book they’d read over and over again every year forever and it’s on the shorter side so I figured I should shoot for reading it this year! I also heard this is a good summertime book so I’m putting it on the summer reading list officially.

may book of the month picks

Untamed — this is one that I think is probably going to be super special so I’m holding out until I can truly savor it!

Writers & Lovers — one of my BOTM add-ons for May!

You Deserve Each Other — I bought this one as a fun little romance that I’m looking forward to reading (hopefully on a beach)

Where the Crawdads Sing — I know, I FINALLY am planning to read this book over the summer. I’ve had it on my shelf for so long but I’ve been paralyzed by the hype!

The Great Alone — another book that, similar to Crawdads, I’ve heard so much about and praying it’s as good as everyone says!

Books you should read this summer.

Here are some current favorites! I’ve been reading a ton of romances lately, so these are my favorite beachy reads that I would totally recommend you get into this summer!

in five years

In Five Years — if you’re looking to escape for a day (I read this in one sitting!)

Bringing Down the Duke — historical romance that I wasn’t sure I’d be into but I really enjoyed!

Beach Read — go into reading this one with an open mind! It may not be what you’re expecting but it’s still very good

undercover bromance

The Bromance Book Club & Undercover Bromance — super cute romances that you will fly through in a day or two

After I Do — if you wanna get in your feels a little and cry… Taylor Jenkins Reid is a fav author. Anything by her is great to read over the summer!

One True Loves — see above! Probably my favorite book of hers (possibly tied with Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo but OTL definitely has more summery vibes imo)

The Idea of You — if you want something a lil steamy and that might make you a little uncomfy at times, this is a great book to get lost in

My May reading recap is coming up next week and I will (probably/hopefully) have read 8 (!!!!) books by then so I can’t wait to share my ratings and short reviews for those. Stay tuned! I’m pretty proud of myself for being consistent with posting the last few weeks, I hope you guys are enjoying getting to read some more posts from me! As always, if there’s something you want to see my write about leave me a comment!

Also, I know comments are annoying to do, but I love reading them and appreciate them so much! If you don’t have time to leave a comment, you can click one of the reactions below to anonymously let me know you read my post. These little interactions, however small, really motivate me to keep going and keep posting consistently for you guys. Thank you so much for being here and reading what I have to say! xo
