As 2016 comes to a close, I can’t help but want to reflect on everything that has happened this year. 2017 is going to be a big year (graduating college & hopefully starting grad school in an unknown city?!) but before we get to all that, I wanted to hit the highlights on my favorite parts of this year! Cancun, Mexico Ryan and I kicked off 2016 in Cancun which was a lot of fun! I enjoyed being able to sunbathe, swim, and read to start the year and I can’t believe I’m lucky enough to be starting 2017 the same way (but more on that later). We stayed at a resort that was absolutely stunning and I wish I could have spent every day in 2016 there! 2016’s Epic Food I’ve definitely indulged in some great food this year! When compiling these photos for this post, I’ve actually felt impressed with the different places I’ve found this year. Pics in order from first to last: MacMart, Green Eggs Cafe, El Vez, Green Eggs Cafe (all in Philadelphia), Black Tap (NYC), Hundred Acres (NYC), Jonathon’s (Dallas).  21st Birthday I was excited to celebrate my 21st birthday in West Chester and Philadelphia with… View Post

If you’ve been reading Kayla Blogs for a while, you know that I’ve tried and failed to do monthly rewind posts in the past. I think I was getting so caught up in making them informative for you guys I wasn’t really using the post how I wanted. Which was to let you know what’s going on in my life! This summer was crazy but I’m so glad I finally got to experience being a camp counselor. It was probably one of the most fun and rewarding experiences even though I was so exhausted 99% of the time and Ryan ended up having to leave New York halfway through the summer. Anyway! Over the summer I started a YouTube channel and I’ve been having a ton of fun learning how to edit and sharing my life in a new way with you all. I started my channel basically as a way to update you on my life instead of doing a “life updates” post every week and I think it has been working pretty well! I upload a new video every Saturday based on what you’d like to  One of my goals for this year is to connect with y’all more… View Post

This month I spent a ton of time relaxing, working on the blog, and reading. I’ve been enjoying not having much to do until camp starts at the end of June. In case you missed it, I’m going to be a camp counselor this summer and I couldn’t be more nervous/excited! I’ve never been a counselor before but it has always been something I have wanted to do. I used to go to camp a lot as a kid and I looked up to the counselors so much. I can’t wait to be able to be a role model for some kids this summer! Other than hanging out at home with Grace, I’ve been able to see my brother play a few high school baseball games. He verbally committed to play college baseball at the University of Virginia this week and I’m so proud of him! It has been a long recruitment journey but I’m so excited to see him so happy and ready for this next step in his life. He still has one more year of high school ahead of him, but it’ll be nice for him to relax and not have to worry too much about his post-high… View Post

The month of April was a good one, friends! To start off, my birthday was on April 2nd and I had so much fun. On Friday night (the eve of my birthday), I was invited to go to West Chester by some of my friends who live there. Kelly came with me even though she wasn’t 21 and I’m SO glad she did because she helped document the night! The pictures and videos from that night are definitely something I’ll cherish forever haha. After my birthday, my family adopted a dog! Her name is Grace and I wrote a whole post on her adoption story, so be sure to check it out! It’s an amazing story and she has been such a perfect fit to our family ever since. The next weekend, I drove up to New York where I’ll be staying this summer and interviewed at a day camp to be a counselor. I ended up getting the job, so that was super exciting and I can’t wait to spend this summer being a camp counselor and working with little preschoolers! April also happens to be the month that one of my favorite PSP events takes place in! Alpha… View Post

So we’re almost 10 days into April but I finally got around to writing a March rewind post! Not too much happened in March, it was basically spent waiting for my 21st birthday (more on that in the April rewind so stay tuned!). The only thing that happened in March that is worth talking about is Easter! My family and I went to church Sunday morning and we had dinner at my Nana’s house that night. I really love when everyone gets together for dinner!
