I guess I’m making these update posts more of a thing now! I’ve had so much to update you on the past few months because I’ve been taking lots of blogging breaks (sorry y’all) but I also like just filling you in on the random stuff that’s happening in Kayla World. Here’s what’s new: I finished college! Still waiting for my final grades to be posted but I officially finished my first (and last) final today which means I’m FREE. It’s kind of bittersweet because I’m definitely going to miss Temple but I’m not going to miss my Behavior Analysis class lol. I graduate on Thursday/Friday! Thursday is the University-Wide commencement and Friday is the College of Public Health’s ceremony. Really excited for this weekend and to say a formal goodbye to Temple. I’m also thinking of vlogging during graduation. Is that crazy? Now that it’s officially summer I’m reading more! I already finished one book this past week (that puts me at 8/25 books for the year!) and I’ve started another already. I just started receiving Book of the Month boxes and if you like getting hardcover books for cheap I suggest you sign up. If you use my link you’ll get… View Post

Most of you know that I’ve been going through the process of applying to grad school. It was daunting and terrifying and at many points I was discouraged. I felt like I had done enough throughout my undergraduate career, I was involved in ALL of the things, I worked hard, and above all else I loved my future career. I stumbled upon speech pathology (you can read about how that happened) but I’ve loved it ever since and I felt like that was exactly the career for me. Throughout March and April I began to hear back from schools. Most of it was negative. I went into this knowing there was a chance I would not be going to grad school in the fall. Applying to graduate school for speech-language pathology is extremely competitive. It was hard seeing my friends get accepted because although I felt SO happy for them and so proud of them, I was also extremely discouraged in myself. I applied to 9 schools and at the beginning of April I had been rejected at 3 and waitlisted at 3. My optimism was fading. I became silent on the blog because I felt like I was failing.… View Post

I know, I know, I’m literally the worst. I can’t believe I’ve gone so long without posting but then again, I can. My life has been in a very weird limbo lately and I just haven’t been able to prioritize blogging. I’ve been doing a lot of self-care, a lot of reading, and a lot of Netflix watching. I’ve been going to the gym with Ryan, enjoying my birthday, and soaking in the nicer weather we’ve been having lately. There are a lot of reasons for the silence but I don’t think I’ll ever stop blogging completely. You can always find me on Twitter or Snapchat or even follow along on my Instagram stories. I’m working on getting new YouTube videos up because there’s a lot I feel like I need to talk to y’all about. However, right now I’m just going to stick to the good stuff and share some fun things I’ve been up to lately! I read some books! I finished The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty, I finished the audiobook for Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari, and I also read What Shamu Taught Me About Life, Love, and Marriage by Amy Sutherland. I want to post… View Post

HEY! So I apologize for no post on Tuesday, there has been a lot happening around my household (if you follow me on Twitter you probably know what it was). I saw my friend Cristina post a beautiful life update earlier this week and I decided to take a page out of her book and instead of freaking out about writing something ~meaningful~ for you guys this week I’ll just chat with ya and let you know what has been going on with me and what has been holding my attention lately. First thing’s first, we had a wifi outage in my apartment for about a week. It was honestly horrible but it made me appreciate being able to do work at home in my own bed SO much more. Never take your cable + wifi for granted, guys! Ryan’s been in Florida all week for work and I’m kinda jealous but ALSO it has been at least 50 degrees here every day this week which has my heart soaring. I hate the cold (which is the reason I applied to two grad schools in the south) so if winter only wants to be 2 months long, I say let… View Post

On January 13th, Ryan and I celebrated our 5 year dating anniversary. I can hardly believe it has been that long but at the same time I feel like I’ve been dating him my whole life. Since I didn’t get a chance to write a post for our anniversary, I decided to write one today for Valentine’s Day. I really cannot put into words how much I treasure my friendship and relationship with Ryan. Since the day I met him, he has been one of the sweetest guys I’ve ever met. (PS: here’s the story of how we met in my words and in his words!) Ryan couldn’t come to my senior prom so we went on a dinner date instead! Here’s a picture from that night. Christmas 2014 or 2015? Before my senior year homecoming dance! Taken during a night out bowling my senior year! A selfie from a “scenic turnout” while driving from Oklahoma to Texas to see a Cowboys game! Selfie from our first night in Cancun Taken during our summer in New York Before our first Sixers game together! Another senior year homecoming pic Taken during Temple vs. Notre Dame last year! One of the first pics… View Post
