My Simplified Skincare Routine

Towards the end of January, I decided I wanted to try simplifying my skincare routine. By “simplify”, I mostly meant cutting down on the ingredients that were in my products and trying to use more natural items. After asking you guys, I settled on some things from Amazon and I’ve been using them for the past 18-ish days.

I have pretty sensitive skin, redness (from rosacea), some acne scarring, and combination skin (mostly oily… though I get dry patches in the winter). I wanted to simplify my regimen to see how my skin reacted to it. So far, so good! I’ll continue to post more updates on my Instagram stories after I’ve been using this stuff for a bit longer.

FYI: I use all of these things (with exception of the ice roller) morning and night and after working out.

Ursa Major Fantastic Face Wash.

I’m not super attached to this face wash but I do really like it! I especially like that it is exfoliating but it contains no beads or anything harsh. I didn’t actually know it was exfoliating until I read the bottle! The scent is definitely unique and takes some getting used to but I think it’s refreshing now. I use this in the morning and the evening and after I work out.

Ice Roller.

I was seeing the jade rollers everywhere but didn’t feel like paying $20+ for one. I decided to go with this ice roller instead! It’s definitely refreshing and I use it before bed. I’ll be honest, I didn’t use this a lot yet because I always forget to bring it upstairs with me when I go to bed (you have to keep it in the freezer so it stays cold). You’re supposed to use this after you wash your face but before you put anything else on it and it’s supposed to decrease puffiness and redness. I need to get in the habit of using it more! A lot of people said they use this in the morning, but I’ve only ever used it at night for about 5-10 minutes.

Dickinson’s Witch Hazel.

$5.97. Get it here.

This is used as a moisturizer/toner. I really like it! It is alcohol-free, which is important but it does have “fragrance” which is something I want to avoid the next time I purchase witch hazel. This stuff makes my face feel refreshed and removes any excess makeup or ~impurities~ that I have on my face!

Organic ~100% Pure~ Jojoba Oil

$12.62. Buy it here.

THIS. STUFF. I seriously love it. At first I was very unsure about putting straight oil on my face even though I have oily skin to begin with but it leaves my face feeling GREAT. My face doesn’t feel tight OR super greasy. It comes with a pump so I just do one pump into my hands and rub it on my face. I highly recommend this stuff! I also use it as cuticle oil when I do my nails and it’s awesome.

Aside from my makeup products, these are the ONLY things I’ve been putting on my face for the past 18 days. I usually break out during my ~time of the month~ but I actually have not had a pimple AT ALL since I started using these products.

Before, I was doing a few different face masks a week, using a cleanser and micellar water and inconsistently moisturizing. Now I do these three quick steps twice a day and we’re good to go! I haven’t seen a huge change in my oily-ness throughout the day and my redness is still definitely an issue but my skin really just feels better and it’s so nice knowing more about what ingredients I’m putting on my face!

I really want to look into a natural clay mask that I can do once every couple of weeks that has natural ingredients. Do you have any recommendations? Let me know in the comments! I just bought this one and I’m eager to see how it works when mixed with some ACV.

Have you ever tried simplifying your skincare routine? Would love to know any products you’ve tried and loved!
