For as much as I talk about books on the blog, I realized I hadn’t ever written a post about my all-time favorites. After running a poll on my Twitter page, I learned that y’all are very interested in hearing about the books that have made it to my favorites list. I have a shelf on my Goodreads page, but it hasn’t been updated since I started thinking about this post.

Maybe you can add one of these to your reading lists in 2018! I love hearing that you guys are more motivated to read and that you’re setting goals for yourself this year. It’s the best! Should I come up with an Instagram hashtag so we can all share what we’re reading with each other? Let me know!

YOU by Caroline Kepnes

YOU by caroline kepnes

I’ve talked about this book a LOT on the blog, so I’m pretty sure you all know how much I love this one. Once I read the synopsis for it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it until I bought it. I read it in about a week over spring break and it was one of those books that was just so outside of my comfort zone but in the BEST way. I always tell people not to read it unless they’re okay with being creeped out and being put into the sort-of-disturbing mind of a stalker. The sequel to this book, HIDDEN BODIES, was also exceptional so I recommend reading them both ASAP!

THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This was the last book I read in 2017 and it was definitely one of the best! I really enjoyed this and I did not see the plot twist coming. TJR made a great character, Evelyn Hugo was lovable and I was dying to know more about her life. I also think it was perfect because I read most of this book while we were traveling in LA. It was so fun to read about old Hollywood while I was there!

THE BOOK THIEF by Markus Zusak

the book thief

I was very late on reading THE BOOK THIEF. I knew it was going to be a really great book but I only read it within the last two years! It took me a little while to get through because it’s fairly long (550 pages) and I was reading it during the school year but it was such a great book to come back to every week and I truly enjoyed reading it. The characters were lovable and I’m always fascinated with reading books about the Holocaust/World War II. It was such a dark time, but the history surrounding it is just so interesting to me. If you haven’t read this yet, you need to! It’s definitely one of my favorites.

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE by J.K. Rowling

Here you have it: my favorite Harry Potter book. Don’t really need to explain much more!

ONE TRUE LOVES by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I read this book a few summers ago and it was one of those books that I just couldn’t stop thinking about after I finished it. I talked to my mom about it after it was over because it was just one of those books that really got into my head. If you’ve read it you probably know what I mean. Taylor Jenkins Reid in general is one of my favorite authors and this was the book that introduced me to her! Definitely look into it. It’s a great summer read too!

IT ENDS WITH US by Colleen Hoover

it ends with us

One of my all-time favorite Colleen Hoover books! This one made me almost cry in public when I finished it. It was SO good and definitely worth reading. If you haven’t read any CoHo books, I suggest looking into this one first!

EVERY DAY by David Levithan

I read this book once when I was in middle or high school and I just read it again recently when ANOTHER DAY was set to release (I never actually finished ANOTHER DAY because I hated it). It’s definitely one of my favorite books. It’s so unlike anything I had ever read before. There’s a movie coming out soon but I don’t think it’s going to do the book justice. One of my favorite parts was coming up with the different characters in my own head!

THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS by M.L. Stedman

the light between oceans

I really wasn’t expecting to love this book so much when I read it but it’s another book that has you thinking and questioning what you would do if you were in the character’s shoes! There’s a movie that came out recently but I haven’t seen it. I typically don’t like books that are set in another time period but it was needed for this story to work. You’ll see what I mean when you read it!

THE GIVER by Lois Lowry

Another book I’ve read YEARS ago but one that I need to re-read. I can remember loving this book after I read it in elementary/middle school but I don’t remember much about it. I do just vividly remember being obsessed with it after I finished it. That’s the thing with books, I can never remember much about them after very long!

The Giver is one of my favorite re-reads. I’m currently rereading the Harry Potter series, and I still can’t decide which book is my favorite. I’m between Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince. Ah!

They’re all so good! It was hard for me to decide.
