‘Tis the season for vlogmas! If you didn’t know already, vlogmas occurs from December 1st to December 25th and basically the only rule is to vlog each day. Aaaand guess who will be participating? This girl. There’s a lot of creative freedom that comes with vlogmas which is what makes it so great, but sometimes that can also be a reason for people not to participate. So I decided to come up with some fun video ideas you can use during vlogmas! I’ll probably be using them too, although probably not in this order.
I started making YouTube videos over the summer because I wanted a new way to connect with my readers (that’s you). They’re a lot of fun and a lot different than blogging but in a good way. If you’re a blogger thinking about venturing into the YouTube world, vlogmas is a fun reason to start. All you really need is your phone and a YouTube channel although a video editing program helps a lot as well (I just use iMovie that came on my Macbook).
Here are a few ideas to get you into the vlogmas spirit! Be sure to subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss a video! Also, if you’re a blogger attempting to do blogmas, these ideas could be used or tweaked slightly to work for a blog post! I can’t wait to see the content you all create.
1. Introduction. Introduce yourself, your blog, your favorite things. Explain why you’re doing vlogmas and what it is to your followers!
2. Shopping. Take us on your Christmas shopping trips! Just don’t spoil the gifts, you wouldn’t want the person you’re shopping for to see!
3. Christmas cookies/holiday baking. I know my mom and I bake a lot of cookies over the holidays. Share your recipe with us!
4. Christmas decorating. Make a video of you decorating your house for the holidays! If your house is already in the spirit, take us on a tour!
5. Crafting. Show us some cute holiday crafts and DIY’s that we can try for ourselves! DIY ugly sweater anyone?
6. Hauls. Similar to the shopping trips, share with us the things you’ve bought recently!
7. Wrapping. Chat with us as you wrap your Christmas gifts!
8. Fashion and beauty. Show us your favorite holiday looks!
9. Holiday adventures. Is there a cute Christmas Village type activity in your town? Do you go to an annual Christmas tree lighting? Do you take drives around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights? Bring your camera along!
10. Christmas songs. What are your all-time favorite holiday tunes? Share them!
11. Christmas wish list. What’s on it this season?
12. Get ready with me. Film a GRWM video before a holiday party or Christmas Eve service!
13. Tell us your favorite things about Christmas.
14. What’s on your Christmas tree? Take us on a tour!
15. Day in the life. What’s a typical day like for you?
16. Current obsessions. What products are you loving?
17. Fall semester recap. Now that winter break has begun, what are your thoughts on the past semester?
18. Tell us all about your planner or your favorite organizational method. What type you use and how do you use it?
19. Take us on a date night. Where do you go? What do you do? Bonus points if it’s holiday related!
20. Workout routine. Do you go to the gym? How often? What’s your favorite way to exercise?
21. Current reads/books you want to read.
22. Q&A with a boyfriend/sibling/mother/father/grandparent
23. Holiday traditions. Does your family have any traditions around the holidays? If so, what are they?
24. Favorite holiday movie and why you love it!
25. If you’re traveling over break: what’s in your suitcase/carry on?
26. Do you collect something? Show us your collection!
27. Childhood room vlog. What does it look like?
28. Take us on a tour of your hometown if you’ll be home for the holidays!
29. Christmas tree hunt. Does your family get a Christmas tree together? Vlog it!
30. Opening presents. Share what you got for Christmas or film the reactions of others opening gifts you bought for them!
