September Rewind + Life Updates

september rewind

If you’ve been reading Kayla Blogs for a while, you know that I’ve tried and failed to do monthly rewind posts in the past. I think I was getting so caught up in making them informative for you guys I wasn’t really using the post how I wanted. Which was to let you know what’s going on in my life!

This summer was crazy but I’m so glad I finally got to experience being a camp counselor. It was probably one of the most fun and rewarding experiences even though I was so exhausted 99% of the time and Ryan ended up having to leave New York halfway through the summer. Anyway! Over the summer I started a YouTube channel and I’ve been having a ton of fun learning how to edit and sharing my life in a new way with you all. I started my channel basically as a way to update you on my life instead of doing a “life updates” post every week and I think it has been working pretty well! I upload a new video every Saturday based on what you’d like to  One of my goals for this year is to connect with y’all more and I hope I’ve been succeeding at that.

This month my senior year finally started to get into full swing and while I’m super excited to graduate, I’m also terrified about what comes next. I’m in the process of applying to graduate school and I’ve been super stressed out about my future. If I don’t go to grad school, what will I do? What’s my plan? I’ve been trying to let things go a lot more lately and give it up to God but I can’t help but feel anxious and worried about my next chapter. I’m the type of person who really likes to have her life planned out and it’s hard to do when you literally have no clue where you’ll be in a year. Talk about scary!

September also meant starting my new “job” as a research assistant in the Saffran Lab on campus and I love it so far! I have yet to officially be put on a project but I love the people I work with and I can tell it’s going to be a really unique and rewarding experience. I’m also the president of NSSLHA this year and I’ve been working alongside my co-president to make this year the best one yet. It has been a lot of fun to brainstorm new ideas with a group of girls I really admire.

I’ve also FINALLY figured out how I want to organize my planner and I can’t wait to show you all how I do it in a blog post and future YouTube video. I love seeing how other people utilize their planners so hopefully that’s something y’all are interested in too!

I have a lot of goals for this little space and I hope I’ll be able to reach them all someday. For now, I just want to focus on being transparent with you all and being a friend more than just someone who spits advice out at you all once in a while. I want you guys to really feel like you’re on this life rollercoaster next to me because you guys matter SO MUCH to me and to this blog. Without you, this blog wouldn’t be anything.

If you ever have any post ideas or things you want to see me write about or make a video about, please email me or leave a comment! I want to make sure I’m posting what you guys want to see more than anything.

I’m the kind of person who always likes to have things all planned out too! I have every class I have to take all planned out for the rest of college. I hope you get into grad school and that everything works out for you!

Thank you Caitlyn! It’s so hard to live a life that’s so uncertain sometimes! I’m glad someone else feels my pain haha.

I definitely like to have a plan too! And a back up plan. And a back up plan for my back up plan. I swear I spend more time planning than anything else. I’d love to see a post on how you use your planner! I’m planning on doing one too on my blog soon! Good luck with the grad school applications, I’m sure you’re gonna kill it!

Looks like a fun month! I’m SO that type of person who needs to have it all planned out and we’ve had everything pretty much planned since birth (minus college decision), so it is terrifying! BUT I can assure you it will all work out how it is supposed to. It’s honestly crazy to see God’s plan unfold!

Girl, I am 100% with you on being nervous about the future! I’m also a senior and also have little to no idea what I’m going to do after graduation. (And I’m also thinking about grad school, but if not, then what?) And I’m also very much a planner and always want to know what’s happening, so it’s super stressful not knowing what is going to be next in my life. We got this! 🙂 I’ll send up some prayers for you!
