6 Things to Do Before Classes Begin

We’re entering crunch time! If you haven’t started classes already, you’re definitely ready to go and today’s post is all about some things you can do to ensure a successful start to your semester. I’m entering my final year at Temple University and the things listed below are all of the steps I take to make sure my semester starts off as smoothly as possible. It’s hard to transition from care-free summer to more scheduled days so hopefully following these steps will make it easier for you!

Prepare your planner.

I probably get most excited about this. I wrote a whole post on my favorite planner options (and a printable planner version, too!). Once I find the perfect one for me I’m all about making sure it’s organized, my color coding is perfected, and I’m ready to go to town adding assignments, due dates, and any extra curricular stuff I need!

Grocery shop.

This one is not my favorite, but it’s important to stock up if you’ll be living in an apartment or dorm! My freshman year I practically lived off of granola bars and Easy Mac. Probably not the best idea, but you’ll definitely want something to snack on in your college dorm!

Print your syllabi, prepare your binders.

Another one of my favorite things! I print out all of my syllabi in advance as well as get my binders together by making cover pages and putting the color coordinated notebook inside!

Get into a routine.

Getting into a routine is hard, especially if you were one of the lucky ones who got to sleep in all summer long! As the end of the summer approaches, I try to set an earlier alarm and base it off of what my schedule will look like for the upcoming semester.

Organize your life.

Clean up your room, organize your closet, perfect your decorations, and make sure your space is everything you want it to be! It’ll get harder and harder to turn your space into something you want when you have lots of assignments, exams, and deadlines creeping up!

Order your textbooks.

I make sure my textbooks get to my apartment in time by using Amazon Prime Student! It helps that you can find your textbooks for crazy discounted prices on Amazon as well. Amazon Prime Student offers free two-day shipping, thousands of movies and TV shows, exclusive college deals, and more! It’s the perfect way to not only order your textbooks, but any other items you might’ve forgotten at home after your move to college.

I love Amazon Prime! Our textbook annex just got replaced by a huge Amazon store in our campus center. It’s really easy (and fun!) to use and I love how fast their shipping is! Here’s to a great start to senior year! 😀

Hopefully I’ll start out this school year with a better morning routine since I’ve been waking up at 7am all summer! I also love prepping my planner for the semester, it makes things so much easier to do it right when I get all my syllabi!

Awesome tips! I love the one about getting into a routine before classes start– it can be so hard to all of a sudden go from 0 to 60. Thanks for sharing!
