Philly is my home during the school year and I’ve lived within 40 minutes of it for my entire life. I’ve gone there on weekends and my friends and I love to head into Center City on any given night to explore! I’ve been wanting to share some of my fav Philly spots here on the blog for a while, so I was excited when Savannah’s link up came about! We Temple Owls love to explore and venture into the city. No matter where you are on campus, you’re minutes away from the Broad Street Line, which means you have access to pretty much all the hot spots in town. This list has some cliche places and also some places that you might not have heard of! These spots are obviously not the only places/things to do when you’re in Philly. Philly has a ton of awesome areas to explore, so don’t feel tied down to only doing this list. I hope you enjoy Kayla Blogs’ guide to Philly!

Food Spots

Of course, we have to start with the food. I recently have been venturing and trying a ton of new food spots in Philly (shout out to my roommate Jess for being a total foodie with me!). Here are some amazing places I’ve tried and trendy places I’ve been hearing about a lot this year!

Green Eggs Cafe

Green Eggs is my favorite breakfast/brunch spot EVER. You can’t leave Philly without going there at least once and trying their red velvet pancakes, their famous “kitchen sink”, or any of their amazing specials!

Dalessandro’s Steaks, Pats + Geno’s

You also can’t leave Philly without trying a cheesesteak! There are so many places to get one in Philly. My family’s personal favorite is Dalessandro’s, but you could also hit up the tourist spot that is Pat’s + Geno’s!

Mac Mart

Mac Mart was (and still is!) an amazing mac & cheese food truck that just recently opened a storefront in Rittenhouse! Jess and I tried the original mac this spring at a food truck festival and it was SO good. I haven’t been to their storefront yet but I can’t wait to go!

Franklin Fountain

Franklin Fountain is a quaint little ice cream shop in Old City that has delicious homemade ice cream. Their waffle cones are also to DIE for. Something unique about this place is that it has an “old timey” vibe! Definitely a place you must stop if you’re in the Penn’s Landing/Old City area.

Sweet Charlie’s

Sweet Charlie’s is a new hand-rolled ice cream place in Philly! I haven’t been there yet but I’ve heard from everyone who has that it’s amazing. I’ll definitely be stopping here once I’m back at school in August! (Pic from @almostapriest… my foodie roomie)

Reading Terminal Market

Reading Terminal is a famous indoor farmer’s market and a great spot to try some new food all in a really cool atmosphere!

Parks

Dilworth Park

Dilworth Park is the newly renovated park located at City Hall. I love the fountain and the fresh green space that is so hard to come by in the city!

Rittenhouse Square

Rittenhouse Square is beautiful and a must-see! There are a ton of restaurants nearby to check out also.

Penn’s Landing

Ryan and I had a great time walking around Penn’s Landing back in April. It was so much fun to explore that part of the city with him. It’s also a great area for taking pictures!

Spruce Street Harbor Park

This park was new last year and I’m glad to see they’re doing it again! Complete with hammocks and a beer garden, Spruce Street Harbor Park is an adorable little place to relax. It’s also super cute at night, there are tons of twinkling lights!

Historical Must-Sees + Museums

City Hall

Check out the observation deck for a sky-high view of the city!

Independence Hall

Where the United States Constitution and the Declaration of Independence were signed! A great Philly spot filled with tons of history.

The Liberty Bell

Located across the street from Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell is in a tiny museum all on its own!

Philadelphia Museum of Art/Rocky Steps

I might be the worst Philadelphian in all the land, but I’ve never ACTUALLY been inside the Art Museum. It’s definitely something I’m determined to check off my list before I graduate! While you’re there, you can’t miss the famous Rocky Steps and statue!

Mutter Museum

The Mutter Museum is a unique museum filled with medical oddities and other fun stuff. Probably not for the queasy or faint of heart but still a really interesting museum!
