Gym Day Essentials

Gym Day Essentials

If you’re like me, you’re wondering how the heck you are still holding up your end of the bargain in the New Year Resolution department. I told myself I wanted to kick butt in the gym this year and I’ve been doing a pretty good job of making sure I get there at LEAST once a week. I used to hate going to the gym but I’ve found that I’ve gotten used to incorporating it into my weekly schedule. Here’s a list of my must-have items for a workout sesh!

U by Kotex and Sweet Spot Labs

Blender Bottle.

I have one in two colors: pink and purple. Of course. I usually never drink enough water (I’m trying here, people!) but I definitely drink more when I carry this baby around with me. It’s my go-to bottle and it comes in all sorts of colors. I bought this purple one for like, $5 at TJ-Maxx so you don’t have to spend crazy dough on these bottles, trust me.

Headphones.

RIP to me if I ever forget to bring my headphones with me to the gym. I like to jam when I workout. I have a workout playlist that is 9 hours long and I’ve shared some favorites from that playlist here before! Another thing I like to do at the gym (especially on the elliptical) is watch Netflix. I’m #blessed that the gym on campus has WiFi so it makes me feel less guilty to stream while I’m there!

Cute gym clothes.

I definitely feel more motivated to workout when I have some cute gear to rock. I love my Spalding leggings ($12 at TJ-Maxx) and my Champion sports bras! Also helps if you’ve got some cute sneakers, too. Hello, Asics!

Protein Powder.

I’m not a crazy gym addict but I do enjoy a protein shake every once in a while! My boyfriend buys this amazing S’mores protein from Pro JYM and it’s SO good. I just mix a scoop of it and water and it tastes like a milkshake. I drink it right after I’ve done a tough day lifting and it keeps me from getting too sore the next day!

Disclaimer: I’m not a nutritionist or an expert on supplements so be sure to consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting any regimens!

FitBit Charge HR

I love this thing. Seriously. It’s amazing! Ryan bought one for me as an anniversary/Valentine’s Day gift (thanks babe!) and I’ve been wearing it ever since. He bought himself one too so we’ve been having fun going head-to-head on our step goals every day! Because my FitBit tracks my heart rate, it has been awesome to be able to get a more accurate reading of how many calories I’m burning during my workouts. Usually, I’m disappointed because I feel like I burned more than just 300 calories but I try not to get too worked up about that stuff. My FitBit has mainly been a way for me to track my goals and workouts easily and effectively!

U by Kotex Click Tampons.

Don’t let your period cramp your gym vibe (haha, get it?) All jokes aside, I love U by Kotex tampons! They are super discreet but they also work super well. They’re perfect for keeping in your gym bag or backpack for those unexpected visits from Aunt Flo.

And after the gym?

I make sure to clean up with this sweet smelling wash from SweetSpot Labs! Created with 98% natural ingredients, this wash is clinically tested and gynecologist recommended. As if it couldn’t get any better, SweetSpot Labs is a company that’s by women, for women. How cool is that?!

Cute gym clothes are one of my biggest motivators to work out because I have to show them off! I also love using my FitBit during workouts, and coincidently my blog post today is about all my favorite FitBit features! Great post 🙂

I’ve been trying to be better about going to the gym this month (so far so good) but still haven’t nailed the perfect gym bag. I think you’ve listed most of the essentials for a great workout!

If I ever forget my headphones, I’ll usually turn around and go get them or even just not go the gym that day — guilty! I agree with you, music is an essential part of any gym session.

I love knowing what people keep in their workout bags. I love buying gym clothes from Old Navy, Target, and Forever 21 and of course Lululemon if I want to splurge.

I need to get back into a fitness routine and your post has done the trick in convincing me! I’m the same way with my headphones, if I forget them I have an incredibly hard time focusing on my work out.

I love gym posts! They get me so motivated to keep going to the gym. I was going every single day, with Saturdays for rest days, but then I decided that I’d just do it as much as I can. I’ve been doing at home workouts instead as it’s easier to fit into my schedule. Zumba at home is so much fun! I already did a whole squat challenge this year and have lost 14 pounds!
