In vs. Out: 2015 Edition

in vs. out

So excited to pair up with Allison and do another In vs. Out post! I’ve decided since it’s so close to the end of the year, to make this one all about the ins and outs of 2015! It has been really therapeutic to look back on all of the good and bad things that have happened this year and I hope you’ll enjoy getting a glimpse of my year!

Death and cancer

I feel like this is an obvious one. My family has had a rough year with the loss of my Pop-Pop and my Nana battling cancer for the second time. But thankfully, my Nana is getting better and although we are still missing Pop-Pop everyday, I am starting to take comfort in knowing he’s watching over me and keeping the family safe.

Never having enough money

Another obvious one. I’m thankful to be making money from the blog now but I still feel like it disappears way too quickly! I’m hoping that in 2016 I can start managing my money better.

Balancing classes + being involved

My GPA hasn’t suffered too much this year but it has been getting more and more difficult to do everything I want to do at school. I love to be involved in as many things as possible but it’s hard to do when you have to spend more and more time studying every night. After taking 6 classes last semester, I’m relieved to only be taking 4 in the spring. I’m hoping that will allow me to take a break and refocus my energy into the right places.

Not working out

I know this is practically everyone’s New Year’s resolution, but I really need to get my butt to the gym more often. I (embarrassingly) gained 5 lbs this past semester and I do not need to keep continuing on with that trend!

Family

Of course, family is always in! We haven’t had the best year ever but I’m thankful that we are all still close and there for each other.

Phi Sigma Pi

I feel like I’ve gotten a lot closer with my brothers this year. I love my little, Elaine, and am starting to get involved with a lot more within the fraternity. I hope that eventually I’ll feel confident and comfortable enough to take up a leadership position before I graduate but it’s so hard being busy and also wanting to do more within the clubs I’m involved in!

SOTU

Another awesome club I’m in is Special Olympics Temple University. We had a crazy semester because we had to get approved to actually become a club at Temple but we finally did it and I’m so excited to see where we go. I also participated in a Polar Plunge at Drexel at the beginning of December which was a lot of fun. I originally didn’t want to actually jump in the water but I ended up doing it. It was pretty freakin’ cold but the cause was well worth it!

TEMPLE

This year was an amazing one for Temple University. We had a record-breaking 10 wins this year for the football team and it was awesome to get to see them play Notre Dame at home with my family and Ryan!

Warm weather

Even though this can’t mean good things on the global warming front, I’m so happy for the unseasonably warm weather we’ve had this fall/winter. I really hate the cold and it’s 10000x worse when you  have to walk to all of your classes! Thankfully, it only rained 3 or 4 times this semester and the coldest day was probably around 40 degrees. I can only hope that 2016 will start off just as warm and sunny!

A new apartment

The start of my junior year brought a brand-new apartment about 3 blocks from campus. My roommates and I absolutely love our place and I finally feel like my apartment at school is just as homey as my real home!

Summers with the boyfriend

I had such a blast living in Pittsburgh over the summer and having a full-time internship during the week! It was an added bonus that I got to stay with my boyfriend and we didn’t have to do long distance for another summer. I loved the adventures we went on and the trips we took together over those three months. Ryan has said to me multiple times that our quick little weekend trip to Erie was probably his favorite vacation we’ve ever been on!

Working with my brother and best friend

So excited that I had the chance to work alongside these two over Thanksgiving break! It’s even better now that my brother has an actual job there. It makes working a little bit better when he’s there!

Sibling Coworkers

A best friend who always comes to the rescue

I’m thankful to have a best friend who will always let me borrow her clothes. And she’s always there to help whenever I have a crisis such as not having a dress for formal…

Best Friend

Blogging

I’ve had a lot of amazing opportunities come my way this year on the blogging front. I’m thankful for all of my family and friends who have supported me with blogging whether it has been just clicking “like” on my Facebook page or reading a post. I appreciate it all more than you’ll ever know!

A good partner in life

That sounds super corny, but I’m so thankful and happy that I have such a good guy in my life. Thanks for taking me on any date I’ve ever suggested and not getting too mad at me for never knowing what I want to eat for dinner. You’re the bomb and I love ya.

SOTU sounds amazing! What an awesome organization to be involved with 🙂 When I was in undergrad, I was involved with establishing a food pantry, and I was amazed at how much red tape was involved with trying to do a good thing!

I hope 2016 is an amazing year for you 🙂
