This month I finished a total of 5 books! I’m really thrilled that I was able to stick to my goal of reading 1 book per week, however, I still wish I was able to finish more that were on my TBR for June.

Mosquitoland 4/5 stars
Mosquitoland was a breath of fresh air. I loved Mim’s voice; it was so unique from any other character I’ve read. She was so intelligent and had a way of looking at the world that opened my eyes. Each of the people she met throughout her journey were unique as well which was extremely refreshing. I feel I’ve been reading about the same types of characters for too long!!
I loved the romance between Beck and Mim. It was especially interesting because my boyfriend and I met at the same ages Mim and Beck were in the story. Walt was also such a great character; his childlike innocence kept Mim from becoming too serious about the destination. I am so happy I read this book when I did. I felt like it was the first book I’ve read this summer where I really connected with the characters.
The Opposite of Loneliness 4/5 stars
I loved reading The Opposite of Loneliness. I don’t often read short stories, but I thought it made the book really fast paced and easy to get through. Marina Keegan was an amazing writer and it really made me wish she were still around to write more. Even the non-fiction section intrigued me and was pulled in with every story. However, it was easy to tell she was a young writer. It didn’t bother me, but I know it could potentially bother some readers.
I would recommend this book to anyone, especially college students. I felt very inspired after finishing many of her essays and stories and I know we could all use a little inspiration.
I’m having a hard time making up my TBR list for July. I know I want to re-read Every Day by David Levithan and finally get to reading Another Day (!!!) but other than that, I’m not sure which books to read first!

And yes, I was upset because I SO wanted to like the book but I just didn’t love it. I didn’t feel like there was a real plot and maybe that’s the point (???) but I just thought it kind of felt like a waste of time.
