June Book Haul

June Book Haul!

Today I’m bringing you my first book haul blog post! This month was a doozy for me book-wise. I purchased a lot of books this month and I can’t say I’m too proud of that (because I should be saving all of my money). However, all of these books are must-haves in my eyes. Some of these books I’ve already read and decided after the fact that they were so good I needed to own them. Those books are indicated with an asterisk. As for the rest, I’m so excited to read them and it’s been seriously hard to decide what books to put on my TBR list for July.

Here’s a list of all the books along with quick descriptions of what they’re about! I’ll be posting reviews of these books as I read them as well so stay tuned!

A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall

Lea and Gabe are in the same creative writing class. Everyone knows they should be together. Well, except Lea and Gabe. This book, told in fourteen different viewpoints, tells the story of their blossoming relationship.

Mosquitoland by David Arnold (will be posting the review this week!)

Mosquitoland is about a girl named Mim. She doesn’t like the new town her father has moved her to and she doesn’t like her new stepmother either. She hatches a plan to return to Cleveland once she learns her mother is sick. Boarding the Greyhound, Mim has no idea what sort of adventures are in store for her. Along the way, Mim she meets a slew of quirky new people who challenge her to learn what it’s like to really be herself.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

Laura Jean has never openly admitted her crushes. She has only written them letters which she has then sealed and tucked away in a box under her bed. When those letters are mysteriously mailed, Laura Jean has to learn how to confront her past loves face-to-face.

I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

A brilliant, luminous story of first love, family, loss, and betrayal for fans of John Green, David Levithan, and Rainbow Rowell”

Twins Jude and Noah are inseparable. At 13 years old, they are beginning to find their personalities: Jude is a red-lipstick-wearing daredevil while Noah spends his days drawing and falling in love with the boy next door. 3 years later and Jude and Noah are barely speaking. Something has happened that changed the twins in two different and dramatic ways. Noah has the early years while Jude has the later ones. They need to realize that the only way to complete the story is to find their way back to each other.

The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson

Lennie spends most of her time hiding in the shadow of her sister Bailey. But when Bailey dies suddenly, Lennie must learn how to take charge of her own life. Before her sister’s death, Lennie’s love life was nonexistent. Now she is struggling to juggle her feelings about two very different boys. One who allows her to grieve and one who allows her to forget.

Every Day* by David Levithan

Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl.
There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere.”

Every day A wakes up and is someone new. A doesn’t know how or why this has happened, just that it happens day after day. When A meets Rihannon, the world as A knew it is turned upside-down. All A wants to do is be with her. And A will do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Eleanor & Park* by Rainbow Rowell

“Two misfits. One extraordinary love.”

Set over the course of a school year, this book is told in the viewpoints of two high school sweethearts who are living two very different lives.

Point of Retreat* by Colleen Hoover (book 2 in the “Slammed” series)

Layken and Will have proved their love can get them through anything. However, once someone from Will’s past re-emerges, Layken begins to question their relationship and Will struggles with learning how to prove his love for a girl who refuses to stop ‘carving pumpkins.’

This Girl by Colleen Hoover (book 3 in the “Slammed” series)

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from his point of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past.

Will begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when he first met Layken.

Hopeless* by Colleen Hoover

Sky tries to keep bad boy Dean Holder at a distance because she knows he’s nothing but trouble. Still, Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky learns that he both terrifies her and captivates her. Something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried. She soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

Losing Hope* by Colleen Hoover (book 2 in the “Hopeless” series)

Sometimes in life, if we wish to move forward, we must first dig deep into our past and make amends. In Losing Hope, Colleen Hoover reveals what was going on inside Holder’s head during all those hopeless moments—and whether he can gain the peace he desperately needs.

Aside from physical book purchases, I have also gotten a few e-books for myself (darn you Amazon). The titles of these books are listed below…

Zac & Mia by A.J. Betts

Seventeen-year-old Zac Meier is dealing with a long, grueling leukemia treatment in Perth, Australia when a loud blast of Lady Gaga alerts him to the presence of Mia. Once released, the two near-strangers can’t forget each other, even as they desperately try to resume normal lives. The story of their mysterious connection drives this unflinchingly tough, tender novel told in two voices.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

When Lou Clark’s job at the Buttered Bub tea shop ends, she is forced to shift outside of the lines of complacency. She lands a job as a caretaker for a quadriplegic and it is here where her world is changed. She looks after Will Traynor– a successful business man with a thirst for adventure until a motorcycle accident has left him helpless. Lou must find a way to inspire Will and give him a reason to live.

AND (as if that wasn’t enough) I scored ARC’s (advanced reader copies) of these lovely books…

Song of Summer by Laura Lee Anderson

Sugar by Deirdre Riordan Hall

Another Day by David Levithan

Needless to say, I will be quite busy for the rest of the summer! I am going to try my hardest not to buy any more books until I finish this lovely pile I have but who knows! Sometimes I can’t help myself.

I read Every Day for the first time last summer and I absolutely LOVED it. I’m planning to re-read it soon before I read the companion novel, Another Day.
Eleanor & Park is one of my all-time FAVORITE books. You should definitely read that this summer as well 🙂

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Serena!
